What is EDF Energy’s Essentials Fixed 1Yr Sep25v2 Tariff?

EDF Energy’s Essentials Fixed 1Yr Sep25v2 tariff is the cheapest among the country’s largest energy suppliers, including British Gas, Octopus, Ovo Energy, and EON. New and existing customers who sign up for this tariff are promised savings of £68 a year. The tariff costs a typical household £1,649 per year, making it more affordable than Ofgem’s upcoming October price cap. Switching to EDF’s offer means household savings over the next 12 months.

Additionally, the tariff requires either an existing smart meter or an agreement to have one installed. This comes with a 12-month fixed offer which includes a £25 exit fee per fuel or £50 for a dual fuel tariff.

Expert Opinions and Advice

Rich Hughes, director of retail at EDF, acknowledges the fluctuating energy prices: “Energy prices had been decreasing, but we are all too aware that because of increases to the price cap, this will change shortly. We know customers will be concerned and we want to do all we can to help. Locking into the cheapest energy-only deal in the market protects them from future upcoming price rises.”

Moreover, Elise Melville, energy expert at Uswitch.com, champions EDF’s competitive rates: “Energy prices will rise for millions of households from October, so now is a good time to shop around for a fixed deal. The current cheapest fixed deal available is £1,612 from Outfox The Market for households with average usage, which is £105 less than the October price cap. EDF’s one-year fix is priced at £1,649 and offers a competitive saving of £68, making it the next best deal on the market, and the cheapest of the large suppliers.”

The upcoming price cap increase has led many to seek fixed deals to avoid unforeseen expenses. With energy costs continually rising, it is crucial for consumers to stay informed about the best possible deals to ensure maximum savings.

EDF Energy’s initiative reflects the company’s commitment to providing affordable energy solutions to its consumers, a sentiment echoed by experts in the industry. By locking in the cheapest deal, customers can protect themselves from impending price hikes and manage their household budgets more effectively during these uncertain times.

Additionally, for those considering switching, it’s advised to compare all available options and choose the one that aligns best with their needs, ensuring the most cost-effective and reliable energy solutions are identified.

The benefits of switching to more affordable tariffs cannot be understated, particularly with the winter months approaching and household energy demands expected to rise. Therefore, consumers should act swiftly to capitalize on these limited-time offers for maximum savings and stability.
