Leeds United are back in Championship action this weekend as they welcome promotion rivals Burnley to Elland Road. However, the Yorkshire side could be about to see a key player leave the club before then. Maximilian Wober, who has been described as a ‘leader’ by former boss Jesse Marsch, is reportedly a target for Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Leeds United’s Strong Start and Injury News

The Whites have had a promising start to their campaign, remaining unbeaten in their first four league games. However, the upcoming test against Burnley will be a significant challenge. Leeds received some good news ahead of the matchup. Reports suggest that Daniel James and Patrick Bamford might join the matchday squad. James, who scored in the win over Sheffield Wednesday, missed the game against Hull City due to injury but could be available for Burnley.

Bamford has also been out with a hamstring injury but could see a return to the squad. His contributions have been limited, only making 11-minute appearances in two games. The striker will be keen to turn his frustrating start around.

Maximilian Wober: A Potential Loss Before Burnley Clash

While Leeds fans can be hopeful about players returning from injuries, they may face the prospect of losing Maximilian Wober. According to Turkish media outlet Takvim, relayed by Sport Witness, Galatasaray is keen on signing the Austrian defender. The Turkish transfer window is open until Friday, and Galatasaray is eyeing a last-minute deal for the Leeds player.

The Turkish club wishes to revert to a back-five system and sees Wober as an ideal fit due to his left-footed skillset. This potential transfer has historical tension, given the hostile relationship between Leeds and Galatasaray, dating back to a tragic UEFA Cup semi-final in 2000.

Galatasaray is reportedly in discussions to sign Wober on a loan deal with an option to buy. However, Wober’s recent injuries, including a calf injury and a knee injury confirmed by Austria manager Ralf Rangnick, could pose a hindrance.

Wober spent last season on loan to Borussia Mönchengladbach, playing 27 games and scoring two goals. He returned to Elland Road this summer and remains under contract until 2027.

This potential departure would be a significant blow to Leeds, especially as they gear up for a pivotal game against Burnley this weekend. With the transfer window closing shortly, the situation remains tense and uncertain. Leeds fans will be hoping for a quick resolution and that the team can maintain their strong start to the season regardless of Wober’s situation.
